The Shetland Trader Book 3: Heritage
Gudrun Johnston is well-known for her exquisite colourwork and lace designs. She draws on her Shetland heritage in all of her work. This new collection takes a deep dive into the history of Gudrun's mother's 1970s knitwear business, also called The Shetland Trader.
The Shetland Trader Book 3: Heritage by Gudrun Johnston is a masterclass in Shetland knitting, exploring both garments and accessories. The designs are a combination of pieces recreated faithfully from her mother's designs, patterns influenced by Patricia's designs but with Gudrun's own take, and entirely new designs that take inspiration from Patricia's work. Gudrun worked with our own Jen Arnall-Culliford as technical editor to bring precision and clarity to the pattern instructions.
Many of the patterns come, as Patricia's offerings did, in multiple colourways and with options for different sleeves or neck treatments. The headline contents might be seven garments and four accessories, but that would massively underrepresent the number of pattern options this collection contains.
Gudrun Johnston's latest book, The Shetland Trader Book 3: Heritage, is a must-buy for fans of Shetland knitting.
